A series on which I served as post producer and editor, The Adulterers, is an official selection of Sundance Film Festival 2018. I'll be attending the festival along with show creators Tonya Glanz and Chris Roberti, as well as a few others. We're screaming on the inside.

Here's a lil video about the series that I helped make!

Directing: AS BEAUTIFUL INSIDE World Premiere at Sonoma International Film Festival

I'm very excited to announce that As Beautiful Inside, a short documentary directed by yours truly, will have its world premiere at the 20th Annual Sonoma International Film Festival in Sonoma, California. The documentary concerns my close-knit Tennessee family as they contemplate the character and legacy of my grandfather, through the furniture he made for us.

The film will play before Strad Style, the Slamdance award-winning feature documentary by Stefan Avalos.

See the events page for more details. Screenings will be on March 30th and April 2nd.

Award-Winning Short ‘Comes Out’ for National Coming Out Day

firstnightout.jpg

First Night Out,” an award-winning short film based on a true story, follows a brief human moment between two people from totally different walks of life; an immigrant waitress serves a trans woman, who is taking her true self out to dinner for the very first time. Presented by Will Mayo Film and Ian Scott McGregor, “First Night Out” addresses the risks that people of the LGBT community face every day in their pursuit of happiness. The film is designed to be brief, poignant and perhaps viewed multiple times over. In this light, “dinner out with oneself comes to mean so much more” (Outfest LA 2016).

The film can be viewed and shared here: http://www.vimeo.com/willmayo/firstnightout

EPK materials can be found here: http://www.willmayofilm.com/firstnightout/

“First Night Out” will also be distributed via native upload on the film’s Facebook page, here: https://www.facebook.com/firstnightout/

“First Night Out” had its World Premiere at Newfest: New York’s LGBT Film Festival, and has screened at over 20 film festivals worldwide, including Aspen Film Shortsfest, Outfest LA, and Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film Festival. “First Night Out” won Best Super Short at The Art of Brooklyn Film Festival and The Uncharted Filmmaker’s Grant at the National Film Festival for Talented Youth.

From the filmmakers:

“It means so much to us to release ‘First Night Out’ on such an important day and time. Our film is based on a true story. The waitress who took the picture is a good friend, who told us of her interaction, keenly aware of its importance. We have wanted to tell this story for many years. We never caught our heroine’s name or where she was going. We know only what you see, and like our heroine, we thought the moment was important enough to preserve on film. Thank you for your time, support and courage on this National Coming Out Day.”
